Diving

I am having a deep fascination for the marine wildlife. It all started in 2001 in the Maledives after taking my first scuba diving classes. Since then I have again and again been drawn back into the sea to explore the unknown worlds.
In summer 2001 me and my friend Alan decided spontanously to Dunraven Wrecksign up for a test dive in in the Maledives. After an amazing 30 minutes dive around some colorful corals seeing so many funny obscure creatures - like in Snail on Corala dream - we knew that there would be no way around it. We had to know more about it.

We went straight back to the PADI Dive Center to sign up for the Openwater Diver course. And that was how everything began. Since then I had some unfogettable dives down at 20 to 40 meters, and I am longing for more.

I have travelled to a couple of dive sites in the world, of which the following ones have impressed me the most:

  • Reethi Rah, Indian Ocean, Maledives
  • Similan Islands, Andaman Sea, Thailand
  • Sharm el Sheikh, Red Sea, Egypt

Alive? There are many more great sites, which GroundedI wish to explore one day. And if the time permits, then I will continue my dive education up to the the Dive Master certification. There's still some way to go, but somewhen in the future I could imagine to go to assist in a dive center somewhere at a nice dive spot for a season or two.

As a diver I am privileged to see the earth from a very different perspective. I dive into a world that has nothing in common with what I experience on the surface. I hover above the coral reefs between giant rocks gazing pleased at the curious but shy, fascinating creatures. A beatiful relaxing adventure.

LionfishReef at NightMost divers log their dives in their logbooks. They write about the places they have been, the conditions under which they have been diving, and the experiences they have collected. It is a record of qualification, it helps you remembering the good things when talking to other divers with similar experiences. According to my logbook I have spent 63hrs 44min under water, and I have visited the following sites:
